Ziggy is originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil. He started his career playing reggae in Brazil in 1998 with a band called Acustico Reggae, which played original songs and also Bob Marley covers. With this project they recorded a set of original material. An original song called “Verdade” from these sessions was later recorded for a greatest hits album for a popular radio station in the south of Brazil (Ipanema FM 94.9). Acustico Reggae played with a few reggae icons from Brazil and also abroad as such as Bob Marley's guitarist 'Junior Marvin' when he came to tour Brazil in 1998. Early in 2003, their much awaited first album was released including a set of successful tracks and few tours around the country. This album (A.R. Na Cidade) went on to become a great success, leading the band to many important and influential gigs and eventuated in the band being famous in the whole state (Rio Grande do Sul). They headlined important gigs in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo as well as playing at the First National Reggae Concert with the all of Brazils most influencial bands. In 2006 Ziggy was invited to play as the opening act for Ziggy Marley and also scheduled to do the same for Bunny Wailer in the following year. Ziggy, riding the wave of success, then decided to go and tour Australia because he was interested in discovering some more exotic destinations for song writing inspiration and life experience, and with this he could also indulge his other great passion for surfing.
As soon as he arrived in Australia, Ziggy started to search for places and new opportunities to expand his musical pursuits and talents through his determination to crack the Australian music market was connecting with many great musicians in Australia. He also performs solo doing gigs at great places like The Arms in Newport place where he lived for a year and a half: 'I love Newport this place brings me so many good memories and I've written some great music in there'. Ziggy and The Wild Drums his new band which he defines as a musical project with a bit of Australian aboriginal influence mixed with Reggae and Jazz has been performing at some of the most important venues around Australia, mainly in Sydney Northern Beaches. The new band are playing a great new set of groovy and seductive original songs featuring Ziggy's unique vocal style and groovy rhythms.
