Each Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 Whitsunday Sailing Club hosts their "WAGS - Wednesday Afternoon (ladies) and Gentleman's Sailing". With emphasis being on competitive fun this two sail (no spinnakers) race a short triangular course around pioneer bay as the sun goes down. Fees apply for boat entries, most of the boat skippers are happy to take club visitors of whatever sailing experience out on the water - they probably won't say no if you buy them a drinker afterwards. The races start on the water at 4:30 so be at the sailing club bar by 3pm if you are looking to try out Wednesday Sailing
The race takes about an hour, with drinks and dinner and a presentation back at the sailing club bar afterwards
